10 to watch out for this 2010

MANILA, Philippines - It doesn’t take a crystal ball to know that the 10 or so people we have chosen to follow will lead the pack. Common sense dictates that boiling water will evaporate faster than cold water in the fridge. For Supreme’s annual list of the who, what where and when to watch out for this year, we had to leave the country, turn off our phones for 10 days (we’re serious) and look deep within. Who will make it? Who will make even more? Who will affect our lives and give us a better point of view this year? From film and television to fashion and lifestyle to politics and pop culture, our heartbeat-based hunches have never been wrong. So at the start of an optimistic 2010, here is our list of 10 for 2010.

New Rivalry: Aljur Abrenica vs. Gerald Anderson

Since 2009 was the year of Kim Chiu, it is now time for the boys to slug it out.

Reminiscent of the Gabby Concepcion and William Martinez professional rivalry in the years of yore (how do I know this?), Aljur vs Gerald seems to be the fight to watch, after Pacquiao vs. Mayweather (?).

Both are being built up by the country’s top networks, paired with top-notch leading ladies; both are being given good acting breaks and both are fantasized about by the whole nation. Who will be knocked out by whom?

Let’s watch this duel, ringside. Both boys look extremely humble — but give them a chance and I’m sure they’re ready to rumble.
