Gerald Anderson is worried about a Facebook impostor
by Rachelle Siazon ( ABS-CBN.com ) 01.15.10
While Gerald Anderson may be grateful for the support his fans bestow on him, he draws the line when it involves cyber-stalking and invasion of his privacy. He recently found out about a Facebook account whose owner was impersonating him online, one who even had access to his personal photos which should have been viewable only by people on his friends list. “Alam mo kahit papaano naman, it's actually very overwhelming also. Kasi bakit naman niya gagawin yun? Why would he pose someone na hindi ko naman siya kilala. So kumbaga I must be someone important para gawin niya yun,” he told ABS-CBN.com last January 10 backstage at ASAP XV.

Gerald’s worries increased as the impostor was passing himself of as the real thing. “Dapat may limitasyon kasi minsan sumusobra na, katulad ng mga ginagawa niya ngayon, ninakaw niya yung mga pictures ko, at ginagamit niya at sinasabi niya ako yun. Nakaka-bad trip pero if that's the person's way of showing his/her support then I’m very thankful. Pero sana itigil na. Hindi ko talaga alam kung paano niya na-access yung pictures ko dahil hindi ko siya friend,” he stressed.

The impostor is also adding Gerald’s celebrity friends who mistook him for the real Gerald. “[Dun ko na-trace] kasi madami din nagtetext sa akin kung ina-add ko sila pero hindi naman. Pati yung mga friends ko dito sa ASAP parang, ‘Ha? Sino kaya yun?’ Nag-worry lang talaga ako dahil may mga taong china-chat niya na kunwari ako yun, kaya medyo na-off ako.” The incident has taught him to be more cautious with his social networking accounts and with sharing his contact info with other people. “Nalaman ko na mas mahalagang pag-ingatan mo yung privacy mo talaga,” he added.

Gerald, iba na ang sikat, kaya inggat lang talaga. Keep your networking
to the limit kahit pa friends mo. mahirap magtiwala. Friends can be your
best enemy,too. God bless.

hey kiddo, it's good to be cautious but if you could do away
without the cyber socializing then it'll be the best and safest specially with your star status now. and this goes true with Kim.

take careof yourselves...you and Kim...

yes, cyber technology is invading too much on one's privacy and I agree, it is best not to have an account to maintain your privacy. A simple text message to friends and associates is enough, and considering that Kim and Gerald are busy persons, they wouldn't find time to go to their facebook to update such. Better to be in the old traditional way, wala pang problema.

Gerald; Also learn a lesson from the James Yap incident.
Even what might be considered as a "harmless"(from the sender's perspective,of course) text messages from "friendly" women,
could wreck havoc on a good relationship.
Why use facebook, text, etc.? As popular figures in your field, your privacy is almost non existent.
