Kapamilya stars talk about their 2009 achievements and 2010 resolutions
by Bernie Franco ( ABS-CBN.com ) 12.31.09
ABS-CBN.com asked some Kapamilya stars about what they thought of their 2009 and what they’re looking forward to in 2010.

Boy Abunda
Greatest achievement in 2009:
I graduated from school and I’m in my Masteral studies and my Doctoral studies. These are achievements. Of course, the awards are always there. My political talk show, Bottom Line, that’s an achievement. I also built a house for my mother. But school primarily.

Goal for 2010:
I really count my blessings. Next year, I’d like to be able to teach kung pagbibigyan because I can teach. I’d like to be able to do an international talk show. I started from nothing and that is my greatest argument: if I got to be where I am now, what can stop me?

Bea Alonzo
Greatest achievement in 2009:
I think ‘yung And I Love You So career-wise. Pero sa pagkatao ko, I joined outreach programs to help flood victims.

Goal for 2010:
I don’t know yet. Wala pang career pathing na nangyari. Maybe more new roles at sana meron pa kayong makitang growth sa akin next year.

Kim Chiu
Greatest achievement in 2009:

Goal for 2010:
By next year, ‘yung bahay ko sana matayo na siya at sana matapos na siya at dun na ako tumira. ‘Yun ang goal ko.

Gerald Anderson
Greatest achievement in 2009:

Goal for 2010:

Director Laurice Guillen admits she’s impressed with the actors of ‘I Love You, Goodbye’
by Bernie Franco ( ABS-CBN.com ) 12.31.09

Directing the stars of I Love You, Goodbye was a breeze for Laurice Guillen because of her actors. She had previously worked with Gabby Concepcion and Angelica Panganiban while it was her first time to direct Kim Chiu and Derek Ramsay.

The actress-director said that Gabby’s attitude towards work has not changed after many years. “Super bait. ’Yun bang never mo siyang mariringgan na nagrereklamo o nagdadabog o nagtatampo. He really missed acting in movies. Kahit meron akong ipauulit sa kanya, he did it with enthusiasm.” The director elaborated that although Gabby had so many commitments, he would show up on the set with so much zest and focus even during very early call times. In terms of his acting, Direk Laurice said that Gabby has matured a lot. “Nakaka-deliver siya ng pain at mas naiintindihan niya ‘yung relationship between husband and wife.”

Although Gabby was nervous about his comeback movie after 13 years, Direk Laurice said Gabby has gotten better considering that there were so many demands required by the role. “Meron siyang nerbiyos na I think it is also part of his excitement and partly because he is thinking na, ‘Kaya ko pa bang gawin ito? I haven’t done this in a long time.’ Ang role ni Gabby dito is more complex. Gabby’s (role) is more mature and more complex and his love is able to accommodate so many things.

Direk Laurice previously directed Angelica in Santa Santita in 2004 and said that the latter has matured as an actress. Direk admitted though that Angelica’s main concern for the movie was having to act opposite her real-life boyfriend Derek. “She has always been an actress—remember she was a child actress and always an actress. Alam niya ‘yung ‘pag nag-grind na ‘yung camera hahayaan niya ‘yung character na magdikta ng movement niya ng pag-iisip and the feeling so parang concern siya na may lalabas sa kanya na hindi kilala ni Derek that he may not be able to accept. But then periodically I would push her and really remind her of her priorities and given the choice between the actress and the girlfriend,” Direk Laurice explained.

Kim, on the other hand, was a revelation to her. The director said that aside from the young actress’s undeniable charisma, she displayed the willingness to prove herself as a real actress. “She’s got that star quality pero apart of that, I’m happy to find out na artista rin siya at gusto rin niyang maging artista in a way nangingibabaw ‘yun. Kasi in the first place tinanggap niya ‘yung role na hindi naman ito ‘yung fan role. Seryoso talaga siya. I think she’s going a very long way as an actress,” the director predicted.

Direk Laurice said that she first met Derek when they did workshops and what impressed her about him was his intelligence. “So mature din ang mind and is very intelligent.” She explained that although he grew up in UK, it was not hard for Derek to deliver long lines in Tagalog.

by Nel Alejandrino ( Journal Online ) 12.30.09

Except for their fans, the Kimeralds, not many knew that Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson didn’t spend Christmas together.

It’s likely na ganundin ang mangyayari ngayong Bagong Taon.

Gerald and his family left for the U.S. days before December 25. It is common knowledge na although he was born in GenSan, Gerald spent four of his growing up years in the U.S. with his American father.

Gerald and Kim take to their team-up as providential. It started in Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition 1, where Kim was grand winner and Gerald was a runner-up.

They are now a young tandem to reckon with and 2009 proved to be their banner year.

Kim and Gerald will welcome 2010 with their first solo pre-Valentine movie, Para Lang sa ’Yo. Magkasama rin sila sa bagong teleseryeng Kung Tayo’y Magkakalayo with Kris Aquino, Albert Martinez and Gabby Concepcion.

The top ten TV moments of 2009
by Mark Angelo Ching ( PeP ) 12.29.09

2009 was a good year for couch potatoes. ABS-CBN and GMA-7 rewarded loyal fans with great TV shows that kept us on the edge of our seats. TV5 also offered high quality programs that shook up the dominance of the two big television networks.

Live coverage of historical events, like the funeral of former President Corazon "Cory" Aquino, mesmerized TV viewers. The public also looked forward to Marian Rivera's first takeoff as Darna. Meanwhile, the unpredictability of live programs and taped reality shows glued us even more to the small screen.

Here are the top ten moments that made 2009 a great year for TV, in no particular order.

***

TAYONG DALAWA FINALE. Perhaps the soap opera of the year, Tayong Dalawa gained a steady following, due to its heavy drama and original story helmed by headwriter Arlene Tamayo and directors Ruel Bayani and Trina Dayrit. The finale, which was aired in September, even trended in Twitter last. Perhaps this is a cue to the TV networks: we want to watch original scripts, and not the rehash (again!) of that Caparas script or that hit koreanovela.

Hottest celebrity endorsers of the year
by Ed Biado ( Manila Standard Today ) 12.29.09

Celebrities are the world’s eternal obsession. We find ourselves wanting to see them and know about their every move. We also find ourselves gravitating towards products and services they promote. The bigger their star, the more they’re cashing in on advertising contracts. It could be a young new personality or a veteran player with years of limelight exposure—what they sellin’, we buyin’! As the year approaches its end, let’s look back on the last 12 months in the fickle world of celebrity endorsements.

1. Sharon Cuneta

Perennially one of the country’s most visible celebrity endorsers, Sharon has appeared in countless TV commercials and has been noted to jump from one brand to another in the same product category. This year, she can be seen promoting NestlĂ© Ice Cream, Nido and McDonald’s, among others.

2. Kris Aquino

Virtually everywhere from TV, print and billboards, Kris may very well be this year’s favorite celebrity endorser. She currently has contracts with 13 brands, including Downy, Smart, Philip Stein, Goldilocks and Eight O’Clock.

3. Manny Pacquiao

The male Kris Aquino comes in the form of the Pacman. With endorsements ranging from alcoholic beverages and mobile providers to shampoos and cooking aids, Manny has proven himself to be just as hot a commodity as he is a boxer and an effective product ambassador.

4. Kim Chiu

As a love interest tandem, Kim has starred several commercials with Gerald Anderson. On her own, she is touted as one of today’s most influential endorsers and has been invested in by Payless, Rejoice and Whisper.

5. Marian Rivera

Natasha, Jag, SM Residences and Sunsilk are some of the products that Marian’s name has been attached to this year. She is also seen together with Dingdong Dantes in San Miguel and San Marino ads. Last September, she was named the number one celebrity endorser by QTV’s Ang Pinaka.

6. Dingdong Dantes

Marian and Dingdong are scorching as a couple and the brands they both endorse saw the profitability of that relationship. As “one of the country’s hottest men,” according to Clear, he is an effective representative of products that focus on the male physique.

7. Robin Padilla

Mass appeal and familiarity have made Robin a credible voice in advocating products with broad target markets. This year has seen him be involved in lucrative campaigns for biscuit, mobile and vitamin brands.

8. Sarah Geronimo

Coming of age has somewhat defined Sarah’s bankable identity this year. Her endorsements have been about transformations, beautifying oneself and celebrating femininity—concepts that her audience can both relate to and aspire to achieve.

9. KC Concepcion

Beauty is something that KC is born with and she makes good use of that in campaigning for beauty, grooming and personal care products. We’ve seen her appear in commercials, print ads and billboards for Garnier, Close Up and Palmolive.

10. Derek Ramsay

Arguably one of today’s most sought-after endorsers, Derek has lent his face and body to sexy advertisements for Nesvita, Lucky Me and Century Tuna, with campaigns that typically show his shirtless torso. He is also the sole leading man of apparel brand, Oxygen.

Kim Chiu admits she was nervous about her role in I Love You, Goodbye
by Fionna Acaba ( ABS-CBN.com ) 12.29.09
Kim Chiu admitted that her role in Star Cinema's Metro Manila Film Festival entry I Love You, Goodbye has been one of the biggest challenges in her career so far. Kim, who has always played good girl roles, took on a very different persona this time around. “Bagong role siya for me. Dun bawal tumawa, lagi kang seryoso. Dapat laging nakadilat ang mga mata mo. Mahirap kaya dapat lagi kang naka-concentrate.”

Kim revealed some of the techniques she used to internalize her role even when she was not on the set. She also acknowledged the training and support she received from their director Laurice Guillen.

But having said that, she clarified that she also has bad days just like a normal person. “Oo naman. 'Di naman tayo santo. 'Pag puyat, 'pag walang tulog, 'pag pagod, tapos 'pag walang dalang ganito, ganyan, 'pag nakalimutan ‘yung kailangang damit, 'yun ang big deal sa amin kasi siyempre ayaw mong mag-cause ng delay, parang iinit ang ulo mo sa kasama mo dahil dun.”

As for being attracted to rebellious types like that of her role, Kim said, “Personally 'di ko type ang bad boy, gusto ko mabait lang pero ‘wag naman ‘yung sobrang bait.

For her next movie, Kim will be reunited with Gerald Anderson in Paano na Kaya under Start Cinema, set to be released in January 2010.

Kris Aquino reveals why she is impressed with Kim Chiu
by Bernie Franco ( ABS-CBN.com ) 12.28.09
Kris Aquino is all praises for Kim Chiu because of her professionalism on the set of their upcoming teleserye, Kung Tayo’y Magkakalayo, where they play mother and daughter. “Ang nakita ko kay Kim, at 19, she is just so professional,” began Kris on The Buzz yesterday, December 27. “Hindi biro ang matatapos ka sa trabaho or shooting ng 4 in the morning tapos magre-report na kailangan fresh na fresh ka at alive ang utak mo sa teleserye at 9:30 or 10 in the morning and then all the way ‘yan until the next day,” the host-actress said about Kim.

Kris also recalled one time when Kim forgot her lines while the camera was rolling due to fatigue.

Kris also added that aside from being professional, she admires Kim for being responsible. She takes care of her grandmother and what I can see about her also is that she treats it like a job. That’s why the professionalism is there and that’s why you know she really has a long, long way to go,” Kris shared.

On the other hand, Kris' The Buzz co-host Ruffa Gutierrez said that since Kim is still new in the business, she is not yet burned out and still has the excitement for work, which serves to her advantage. Boy Abunda added that unlike Kim, some newcomers do not have the same kind of passion that the first Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition Big Winner has. The King of Talk said that Kim and fellow former housemate Gerald Anderson proved that they are talented actors, which is why they have gone a long way after their PBB stint. Boy admitted that he was not a fan of Gerald in the beginning although his mind changed when the Fil-Am actor proved himself as an actor through his teleseryes.

Meanwhile, Kris happily announced also in The Buzz yesterday that Kung Tayo’y Magkakalayo will be shown a month earlier than intended due to insistent public demand. “One month early ang premiere (and it will be) on January (that is) three weeks from now, it’s January 18 and we promise you po buong-buo ang storya na ang ginagalawan 10 characters, pero you can feel the pain the anguish and also the fight in each one of the character,” Kris described.

Kim Chiu's Breakthrough Performance
( PhilStar ) 12.27.09

CEBU, Philippines - Cebuana actress Kim Chiu has come a long way in the world of showbiz. It only seemed yesterday when she first shot to public consciousness after winning a reality show for teens. Now, she has a string of extremely successful teleseryes in her showbiz portfolio with perennial partner Gerald Anderson, earning her raves from fans and critics alike as one of the most promising dramatic actresses of her generation.

Kim is ready to take her career to another level as she showcases versatility and faces off with drama heavyweights in Star Cinema’s official Metro Manila Film Festival entry, “I Love You, Goodbye.”

The film also marks many career firsts for Kim as first and foremost, she gets to show that she can hold her own even with the absence of her hit loveteam with Gerald.

In the film, Kim plays Ysa, the bane to Angelica Panganiban’s character Lizelle, in this latest masterpiece by Laurice Guillen. Kim said that this is one role that will be a departure from what people are used to seeing her tackle.

The project itself promises to be one of her most unforgettable as it has presented her many career firsts. “Sa movie na ‘to, maraming first time, first time maging iba ang ugali, ibang character. First time na wala si Gerald [Anderson]. Ang daming first time, isang malaking experience ‘to sa akin. So pag nag-eeksena kami, e di kami in good terms dito sa movie.

But what makes the experience extra memorable is the fact that Kim gets the chance to work alongside with the industry’s best.

She might be uneasy with her role, but her co-stars have made the experience a lot easier. “Si Angelica at si Derek sobrang kalog nilang kasama.

And syempre ayon, mararamdaman nila ang pagmamahal between father and daughter, between a lover to a lover. Punong-puno ng pagmamahal and punong-puno ng aral yung kwento.”

Catch Kim Chiu, together with Angelica Panganiban, Derek Ramsay and Gabby Concepcion in I LOVE YOU, GOODBYE now showing in theaters nationwide.

Kris Aquino reveals that Kim Chiu was nervous during the first taping day of their soap
by Rachelle Siazon ( ABS-CBN.com ) 12.26.09

Working with Kris Aquino can be intimidating for any young star and Kim Chiu is no exemption. Apparently, the country’s most popular teen idol got nervous the first time she did a confrontation scene with Kris in the teleserye Kung Tayo’y Magkakalayo. “First day namin sa set, she was shaking talaga kasi tinutulak-tulak niya ako sa isang scene. E dapat bratinella yung role niya. Kaya lang nung tinulak niya ako, kulang yung tulak so inacting ko na lang,” Kris revealed in an interview with ABS-CBN.com.

But Kris was also quick to clarify that it was no big deal since Kim was probably still adjusting to her rebellious character at that time. “Nahihiya siya sigurong itulak ako. Pero sabi ko, ‘Kim, next time if you really have to push me, just push me. It’s okay, I wouldn’t take offense. And wala ka pa atang 90 pounds.’ I love her. Magkasundo talaga kami,” she beamed.

The Queen of Talk also let us in on some of the twists in the story and why she enjoys working with Kim and Baby James on the set. “Kasi this is the cutest thing about the show ha—Kim, Albert (Martinez) and Baby James all have the same birthday, April 19. Gusto niya naka-leather jacket siya and naka-hat palagi, yun talaga. So si Kim and ako naman, we can spend five hours talking about clothes. Sabi ko, ‘My God, I am not dressing my age.’ Masyado atang pa-bagets ang outfits ko so kailangan baguhin ko,” she exclaimed.

Like a typical proud mom, Kris also boasted that Baby James already has lots of fans, as seen when he went onstage at the 2009 ABS-CBN Christmas Special at the Araneta Coliseum. A Michael Jackson fan, Baby James seemed like a natural-born performer for he had no qualms facing a huge crowd that night. “It was the cutest talaga kasi yung mga kapamilya fans who go to The Buzz every Sunday, kusa silang nagpagawa ng, ‘We love Baby James’ na banner. So kilig na kilig din si Baby James kasi he saw his picture. Yun talaga hindi mo kailangang pilitin kasi gusto niya talaga. At his age, he can moonwalk na. I’m not exaggerating. Gusto ko na kunan at ipadala kay Oprah or i-YouTube kasi kaya niya all the dance moves of Michael pati yung crotch-grabbing. Kaya sabi ko, ‘No no no honey, don’t do that.’ Pero obsessed siya talaga kay Michael. He learned it on his own through constant repetition. He watches and copies his moves. At ang favorite niya ngayon yung ‘Smooth Criminal.’ Sasabihin nun, ‘Mama I want yung okay okay.’ So ang galing,” she related.

'Bad' Kim Only Human
by Aster Amoyo ( Journal Online ) 12.25.09

Kim Chiu admits she’s “challenged with her role in I Love You Goodbye,” Star Cinema’s official entry to the ongoing Metro Manila Film Festival.

“It’s something new for me,” she says. “As a rebellious daughter, I must show a wide array of emotions. Although it’s difficult at first, I got the hang of it as shooting progressed. I’m sure my fans will be shocked initially but I hope they see it as something positive for me as a performer.”

Kim notes that her character in the movie isn’t really that bad.

“Yes, unlike normal villains in soap operas. Here in “I Love You Goodbye, “ my character is very human. There’s a reason why she’s behaving that way. Viewers will see where she’s coming from. The character is very real.”

How did she prepare for the part?

“I just condition myself before the shooting. I come to the set with my emotions ready and lines memorized. Basically, I’m a bubbly individual so I need ample time to focus and internalize. It also helped that I watched movies of other actresses who played villains.

“And of course, there’s the guidance of Direk Laurice (Guillen). She really made sure that I was always in character. She motivated me in most of the scenes. My co-stars Angelica Panganiban, Derek Ramsay and Gabby Concepcion provided very good support too in all our scenes together. They simply made my first offbeat role memorable for me,” Kim points out.

Angelica Panganiban, bilib kay Kim Chiu bilang aktres
( PinoyParazzi ) 12.25.09

Pero ngayong Pasko, ‘eto na munang I Love You, Goodbye.”

Nood na and Merry Christmas, ha!

Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson top ABS-CBN.com’s poll for the hottest love team for 2009
by Rachelle Siazon ( ABS-CBN.com ) 12.24.09
After winning the hearts of many Filipino viewers in the teleserye Tayong Dalawa, Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson’s love team is more popular than ever, landing them in the number one spot in ABS-CBN.com’s search for the hottest love team this year. They garnered 1,418,511 votes all in all, equivalent to 71% of the total votes cast.

Aside from casting their votes, fans also expressed how much they are looking forward to the couple’s next primetime soap, Kung TayoĂ˝ Magkakalayo, which boasts of a compelling story and a powerhouse cast. “Meron na naman tayong aabangan tuwing gabi! Ngayon ang aga ko kayang matulog kasi tapos na ang Tayong Dalawa so next year balik na naman sa dati,” online fan 06bridget said in a comment posted on one of Kim and Gerald’s photos at the Team Kapamilya Multiply Site. “Iba talaga ang dating ng dalawang ito. Spunky chinita and funky amboy. I love them,” user Yapeh28 added.

Apart from their dramatic prowess, a lot of people have also come to admire Kim and Gerald’s determination to be multitalented performers. They recently wowed audiences with jaw-dropping production numbers during the previous concerts of ABS-CBN at the Big Dome. “Wow! Level up na talaga ang Kimerald. Kudos Kim and Ge, ang galing ninyo,” one online fan observed.

Though there are a few who still don’t appreciate their efforts to improve their craft, it pays that they have lots of solid supporters who never fail to defend them against harsh criticisms. At least nag-react sila. Keep up the good work guys.

by Fionna Acaba ( ABS-CBN .com ) 12.24.09
Kim Chiu shared how excited she is about how her fans will support her upcoming movie with Gerald Anderson, Paano Na Kaya, Star Cinema's 2010 opener.

Kim admitted that there is still a lot of things for fans to discover about their love team.

Kim also expressed her gratitude to fans who never fail to support her and Gerald. So thank you, thank you talaga sa kanila."

She said she is also happy that she has a lot to be excited about at the start of 2010.

Meanwhile, Kim revealed that she does not plan her resolutions for the New Year. "Wala akong New Year's resolution kasi hindi naman natutupad, e. Kaya wala na lang. Gusto ko magpataba kaso wala naman nangyayari so hayaan mo na," Kim said, laughing.

Kim Chiu, mahilig kumain ng talong!
by Alex Valentine Brosas ( PinoyParazzi ) 12.23.09

Adorable. She looks like a fairy princess. I love the color and the cut of her gown. It’s youthful, like she is, and fresh, but also quite elegant. Again, when wearing a gown this frou-frou, accessories should be kept simple. Ms. Chiu, of course, doesn’t need me to tell her that.

Kim Chiu unleashes her dark side as a rebellious daughter in I Love You Goodbye
by Melba Llanera ( PeP ) 12.21.09
As her first offbeat role, aminado si Kim Chui na naging mahirap para sa kanya na gampanan ang role niya bilang rebeldeng anak sa 2009 Metro Manila Film Festival entry ng Star Cinema, ang I Love You Goodbye.

"Siyempre, bagong role siya for me.

LOVETEAM WITH GERALD.

Ipinagtatanggol nila kami. So, thank you, thank you talaga sa kanila."

"Supposed to be, pinagpipilian na date, February 8 or 15, ang choice ni Deo [Endrinal, business unit head]. Chinese New Year is on the 14th kasi. So, yun.

"Ngayon kasi, four locations kami nagte-taping. So, it's cost effective. Ten lang kami talaga in the whole soap. So, lahat talaga may moment."

Kris, Gabby [Concepcion], Albert [Martinez], Gerald [Anderson], Coco [Martin[, Kim [Chiu], Tita Gina Pareño, Jaclyn Jose, Maricar [Reyes], and Pooh. And special participation ni Tita Gloria Romero and Baby James," banggit ni Kris.

"Jackson!" bulalas niya. "Siya si Jackson. Kasi lahat kami ang name namin is based on singers. Tapos siya, basta he'll come in to the show pa, end ng first season going to second season.

"Anak ko siya na... Basta yung... kasi parang, magulo kasi yung ano... Siyempre, like a typical soap, maraming back stories.

An offbeat Kim
by Ethel Ramos ( Malaya ) 12.21.09
‘I have no idea nga how my following will react to my sudden change of image. – Kim Chiu’

Kim Chiu admitted that she had, at first, apprehensions about accepting the role of Gabby Concepcion’s daughter in Star Cinema’s Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entry, "I Love You…Goodbye."

She explained: "It would have been okay if I was to play Tito Gabby’s daughter lang. Kaso I’ll have confrontation scenes with Angelica, who plays the role of Tito Gabby’s greatest love.

"Magkakarooon pa nga ng eksena where I would slap her. Real hard. This is when I discovered na siya ang love ni Derek, who is the love of my life naman.

"Kaya medyo off beat ang part ko. I have no idea nga how my following will react to my sudden change of image.

"And Gerald (Anderson, her perennial partner)."

Is it true that she has a torrid kissing scene with Derek?

"Wow, dapat panoorin nyo ang movie to know the truth," Kim replied.

On Laurice Guillen, who is directing "I Love You…Goodbye," Kim said: "I’m used to working with her. I underwent a workshop with her before I started taping for the series, ‘Tayong Dalawa.’

"Tapos, when finally I shot scenes for for ‘I Love You…,’ she would first allow me to do my interpretation of a particular scene.

"Then, she would have me watch said scene in the monitor. At saka niya itatanong sa akin, kung may kulang pa ba. Meaning, the way I interpreted the scene.

"Then she would suggest that we do another take.

"Feel ko, I’ve learned a lot from her, as far as acting is concerned, while doing this movie."

Mahirap if he was dying and I was not there. But now, even Johnny would feel na dapat ituloy ko na ang trabaho ko.”

It’s Laurice’s second time to direct a love drama. Dati kasi puro drama lamang ang ginagawa niya. Second love story niya ito after her first directorial film, Kasal which she did in the early 80’s.

“Si Kim Chiu who’s a big star now has got star quality. She has presence. I’m happy to find out na artista rin siya, at gusto niyang maging artista. Her role is not the usual Kim Chiu role, and I’m surprised na siya pa ang humihingi ng take two. She’s got a long way to go as an actress.

“I didn’t expect much from Derek Ramsay. Culturally hindi siya lumaki rito. I’ve never met or worked with him.

“May lovescenes si Angel with both Gabby and Derek. With Gabby, they are very sensual and mature. But their beach scene is really something! It is hot! I shot this scene in a virgin beach in San Juan, Batangas.

“Sa shower scene naman ni Angel, she took off her clothes para daw maging comfortable siya pero wala kang makikita sa kanya. That shower scene is very important. Meron daw maggu-goodbye sa movie but she won’t say who.

Medyo reluctant pala si Kim Chiu to accept the role sa Metro Manila filmfest entry na I Love You…Goodbye.

If she were playing the role raw sana of Gabby Concepcion’s daughter, okay lang. In fact, the idea excited her.

“And the thought of it, bago finally nakunan ang eksena, gave me goose bumps.

The idea just scared me.”

What scared her even more, according to Kim, was the turn-about her role will create sa kanyang image, especially sa kanyang followers, the Kimeralds at kay Gerald Anderson mismo.

But at 18, tulad nga ng sabi sa kanya ni Direk Laurice Guillen, namamahala ng I Love You… Goodbye, Kim cannot play teenybopper roles forever.

Her followers will outgrow her daw kaya, makabubuting unahan na niya ang mga ito na ma-outgrow siya.

* * *

Although I Love You… Goodbye is Kim’s first time na maidirek ni Laurice, it is not their first time to work in a project together.

Bago raw siya nag-taping for Tayong Dalawa dati, Kim underwent a workshop with Direk Laurice. Ganundin si Gerald.

Kaya when finally the two worked on I Love You… Goodbye, at home na sila sa isa’t isa.

“Ang gagawin kasi ni Direk Laurice ay kukunan ang isang eksena, according to my own interpretation. Tapos, we will both view the scene sa monitor.

Kung nakukulangan siya, she would suggest a retake.

“Ang feeling ko, after this movie, puwede na akong sumabak sa iba pang role. I just hope my fans will understand,” dagdag pa ni Kim.

by Veronica R. Samio ( PhilStar ) 12.19.09
Marami ang magugulat sa performance ni Kim Chiu sa I Love You Goodbye ng Star Cinema na entry nito sa Metro Manila Film Festival ’09. Nalampasan nito ang mga requirement na hiningi ng director mula sa kanya and she was able to give more.

Yung kina Angelica Panganiban at Derek Ramsay grabe raw.

Kim Chiu admits she was uneasy about her role in ‘I Love You, Goodbye’
by Napoleon Quintos ( Star Cinema Multiply Site ) 12.18.09
Kim Chiu experienced many career firsts with the movie I Love You, Goodbye. This is her first major project without her love team partner Gerald Anderson which she confessed made her a bit worried when she was first told about the film. “First time na wala si Gerald kaya nakakapanibago.

However, Kim was able to find a new friend as she got to work for the first time with Angelica Panganiban. The 19-year-old teen idol added that she had a great time on the set with Angelica and the latter’s real-life boyfriend Derek Ramsay. Kim also described co-star Gabby Concepcion, who plays her father in the movie, as very “cool.”

Fans of Kim will see a different side of her in this Star Cinema entry for the Metro Manila Film Festival. Kim plays an envious and possessive girl who abhors Angelica’s character who becomes her dad’s girlfriend. The young actress admitted that she was hesitant at first about accepting the role.

Kim said she is very proud of being a part of I Love You, Goodbye, which she described as a movie that everyone can appreciate. Mararamdaman nila ‘yung pagmamahal ng father and daughter, between two lovers.

I Love You Goodbye will premiere nationwide on December 25. International screenings are also scheduled from January 1 to 7 at Micronesia Mall, Guam and at the UA Stonestown Twin, San Francisco, USA.

Derek Ramsay praises Kim Chiu’s acting in ‘I Love You, Goodbye’
by Napoleon Quintos ( ABS-CBN.com ) 12.17.09
Derek Ramsay has a new onscreen partner in Kim Chiu for the movie I Love You, Goodbye, Star Cinema’s entry to the Metro Manila Film Festival. In an interview, Derek revealed how he was impressed with Kim’s portrayal of girl obsessed with his character in the movie. “Challenging for Kim to play the role kasi medyo mataray siya at matigas. ‘Yung face lang niya napaka-adorable, parang sweetheart, someone who’s so vulnerable. She’s a very promising actress. Effortless ‘yung pag-arte niya.

Derek refused to say though if he had a kissing scene with Kim in the movie. He only shared how happy he was to have worked with the young actress. Alcon!’ Kapag magkasama kami nagkukulitan lang kami.”

Playing Kim’s father in the movie is actor Gabby Concepcion with whom Derek said he was honored to co-star. When I was younger and was still whiter, I was often told na kahawig ko si Gabby. I never imagined na makakatrabaho ko siya. Nung makatrabaho ko nga si Ms. Maricel Soriano sa T2 I was really shaking sa eksena namin together. Dito sa I Love You Goodbye, may eksena kami ni Gabby na parang nagpapatigasan kami. I was very nervous when we were doing the scene and I’m very happy na nagawa ko ‘yun.”

From being a regular fixture in print ads, on the ramp, and in commercials, Derek was able to prove his worth as an actor with the numerous teleseryes he did at ABS-CBN. Although many critics are raving about his performance in the movie, Derek said he is not expecting to win an award for his work in I Love You, Goodbye. Dapat kahit papaano makasabay ako kina Gabby, Kim, Angelica (Panganiban). They’re very amazing kapag nakaka-eksena ko sila. When I was doing the dubbing napapanood ko ‘yung mga eksena and mas lalo akong nae-excite sa movie.”

If there’s someone in the film that Derek believes deserves an award, he said it would be his real-life girlfriend Angelica. The two have been together for three years now, and Derek shared what he loved the most about Angelica. “She really takes care of me to the point of most of the time inuuna niya ako bago ang sarili niya. I would often remind her to love herself more first than me. Pero 24/7 she always checks on me, kung okay lang ba ako, kumain na.

Derek admitted that at first he didn’t find Angelica physically attractive. “To tell the truth Angelica’s physical feature is not my type. Before I would prefer girls who are very sporty. She’s too pretty and perfect for my type, parang anghel talaga. But we fell in love and we’re very happy.” But now that he is certainly having a great time with the young actress, Derek could only say, “She’s my dream girl and I’m living my dream.”

Direk Laurice: "Kim Chiu is a revelation"
by Sanden Anadia ( PhilStar ) 12.16.09

CEBU, Philippines - Wala gyud maghinakog si direk Laurice Guillen sa iyang pagdayeg kang Kim Chiu sa gipakita niining abilidad sa pelikulang I Love You Goodbye sa Star Cinema nga entry sa Metro Manila Film Festival.

“Si Kim Chiu is a revelation. It’s my first time also to work with Kim Chiu in a movie. I’ve seen her twice in two workshops that we did for two teleseryes. Si Kim Chiu has presence. Kim Chiu has this freshness, vitality. She has presence on screen. She’s natural when it comes sa perception niya sa role. Perception niya when she has lines to do, through the lines, ‘di na mahirap hingin sa kanya kung ano ang requirements sa role,” nagkanayon si direk Laurice.

“Si Kim Chiu is a perfectionist. I like actors like that na talagang pinahahalagahan ang kanilang role,” dayeg pa ni direk Laurice.
