During the grand press launch for Tayong Dalawa last January 7 in Greenhills, San Juan, an impromptu open discussion arose between the press and members of the cast Gerald Anderson, Jake Cuenca, and Baron Geisler about homosexuality and how much respect the latter three had for members of the “third sex.” They even said they would not be offended even if they were linked to someone gay.

“Regardless kung ma-link ako sa babae or sa gay, I’ll just take it as a compliment. Kasi naman, pare-pareho lang tayong lahat andito sa showbiz, hindi na dapat tayo nagdi-discriminate ng mga ganyan. So for me, regardless if I get linked to someone, it’s not an issue. Basta I told myself I’ll always take it as a compliment,” Gerald says. Gerald even admitted that working closely with gays does not make him the least bit uncomfortable. “Depende kung may nali-link sa iyo kung paano mo iha-handle yung issue. Ako, I have gay friends. There’s nothing wrong with that. I mean, they’re still people. Tao rin naman sila. I find gay people are smarter pa sometimes and very creative,” Gerald stresses.

Despite his tough boy image, Baron revealed his sensitive side by expounding more on the issue. “Mga katulad niyo po, sa lahat ng mga creative people dito sa industriya natin, not only in showbiz but also in other industries, these people are known as very talented. They boost other people’s careers and they’re just there for us and we have to love them and accept them because they’re just human. There’s nothing wrong with that,” he says.

The three actors impressed the media by sharing their thoughts on the topic and Jake even went one step further and showed his appreciation for gays. “Nagpapasalamat ako sa mga gays na sinusuportahan nila yung Tayong Dalawa. Kaya masaya ako dahil sa kanila at sa lahat ng manunuod. Maraming maraming salamat,” he says.
