Millions of soap opera fans from across the archipelago followed the story of two stowaway kids, Bokbok and Poknat, who later grew up to be Travis and Jasmine, ill-fated lovers racing against time to change their tragic destiny.
Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson, possibly the hottest teen love team on Philippine television, are not going to be missed long by their fans.
This Saturday, they will reappear, not as Bokbok and Poknat, but as Gabriel and Melody in the primetime sitcom Gokada Go! on, of course, ABS-CBN.
At a recent press conference to introduce them to the media, Kim and Gerald appeared stunned at the speed of events that have been consuming their teenager’s lives since he became the Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition second runner-up, and she bagging the top prize.
They also won the Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition People’s Choice Award. Cementing their love team was their stint in Love Spell. To show that they’re not only effective in swelling audience eyes to tears, the tandem’s comic talent had been put to test in the Saturday night sitcom Aalog-Alog.
These days, tweeners want either to be Kim or Gerald.
Gokada Go! I understand is something the two have to do before embarking on a new soap that is set to premiere in the third quarter of the year.
The rest of Gokada Go! cast incudes Joem Bascon and Eda Nolan. It will also introduce a new face on TV (but not on the racing circuit) Matteo Guidicelli.
Award-wining actress Gina PareƱo makes there’s enough laughable moments in the show as she plays the nasty, naughty and funny new dorm manager.
Kim is Melody Go, an accounting major who is an interior designer at heart. A walking contradiction, the pretty genius is obsessed with her feng shui and horoscope but there is a problem—she brings nothing but bad luck to Gabriel, and she doesn’t know it. Meanwhile, Gerald plays the role of Gabriel Fernandez, a working student from Cebu who is also arrogant. A walking paradox himself, Gabriel exudes the bad boy image but secretly cries when he hears his and his ex-girlfriend’s theme song. This Saturday gig of the two screen lovebirds will be crucial in their career, as their love team is again put on an acid test.
Will they survive the ratings race?
That’s we are all waiting for to find out.
