Gerald Anderson says he is very loyal to Kim Chiu

Before the rumor mill could think of far-fetched possibilities why Gerald Anderson had to give Kim Chiu a bouquet of flowers in front of their fellow Kapamilya stars twice last week, he explained that it was just to bring her luck during the Wowowee Olympics. “For good luck sa volleyball game nila kaya lang malas pala kasi natalo din sila, pero kami natalo din naman.” ABS-CBN.com caught up with the actor during the Star Studio Magazine thanksgiving party for Kim Chiu last June 18. Gerald was late for the event and even had to rife his motorcycle to make it to the party. When prodded that the flowers were meant to keep Kim from developing feelings for Jake Cuenca whom she’s spending more time with at the Tayong Dalawa set, the young heartthrob simply shook his head. “Hindi kasi nung nagpra-practice sila [during the week] binigyan ko siya ng flowers. Eh [nagkataong] nandun si Willie (Revillame). Nagustuhan ni Willie [yung gesture ko na yun] so sabi niya, ‘Gawin mo ‘yan sa Sabado’. Pero nung una hindi ko talaga alam na nandun yung mga tao. Akala ko si Kim lang,” he stressed, hoping that their avid fans wouldn’t take it the wrong way.

As for Kim being a frequent visitor to his new home, Gerald did not deny such reports, explaining that it was only when she was helping him pick out furniture and other stuff for his house. “Ha-ha! Wish ko lang [gabi-gabi nga na nandun si Kim]. Hindi naman sa lagi siya dung nakatambay. Ano lang, kapag may time pumupunta siya sa bahay. Dati yun eh. Nung hindi pa kumpleto yung mga gamit ko. Tinutulungan niya ako sa bahay.” He further shared that he is actually looking forward to the day when he could return the favor. “Oo, sasamahan ko siya sa pagbili kasi yun ang ginawa niya para sa akin. Pero hindi ako ang mamimili kasi nga tulad ng sinabi niya panlalaki yung taste ko (laughs). For sure I will buy her something nice pero pag-iisipan ko muna,” he added.

Since they have been known for exchanging extravagant gifts with each other just like what other couples do, why can’t just take their very special friendship to the next level? “Hindi ko alam eh. Ako handa na ako. I’ve been ready for a long time now. Handang-handa na ako na [i-formalize yung relationship namin]. ‘Yun nga lang ayaw ko siyang i-pressure. Masaya kami sa kung anong mayroon kami ngayon. Masaya kami na lagi kaming magkasama. And si Kim 19 pa lang, bata pa siya. So I am giving her time to think kung gusto niya ba talaga. But I’ll be here waiting. Time will tell kung kailan siya magiging ready,” he replied in earnest.

There may be a lot of other pretty girls out there but Gerald further claimed that he only has eyes for Kim. “Oo naman, loyal ako sa kanya. Para naman akong tanga kung hindi kasi ang dami ko nang sinasabi sa kanya. Kung may gagawin naman ako [like yung tumingin sa iba] parang sinira ko lahat yun. And not just because of that. Iniingatan ko rin yung love team namin dahil marami pa kaming gustong gawin na magkasama kami. So I take good care of our love team and of Kim. Kung may hindi man kami pagkasunduan, konting tampuhan lang. Minsan nagseselos din si Kim. Siyempre ako din. Kumbaga 50-50. Pero kung nag-aaway kami? Hindi, walang ganon,” he revealed.

Meantime, Gerald is enjoying his offbeat role in Tayong Dalawa and has actually grown accustomed with his new look. “Maiksi naman ngayon ang hair ko. Marami talagang nanibago, siyempre sanay yung mga tao sa My Girl, sa My Only Hope, ito naman para maiba-iba. At saka hinihingi ng role eh, wala tayong magagawa, kailangan.” How was his experience shooting inside a penitentiary and being locked up in a severe confinement whenever his character JR gets into trouble with the other prisoners? “It’s very hard. Pero nakasama ko yung mga totoong preso dun, talagang they watch Tayong Dalawa, nakakatuwa nga eh. That's also my motivation to work harder,” he finally stated.
