Jerry Donato ( PhilStar.com ) 06.12.09Manila, Philippines - According to ABS-CBN business unit head Deo Endrinal, Tayong Dalawa, the compelling drama that intertwines the lives of two David Garcias (Jake Cuenca and Gerald Anderson) is far from over. The story is heightened and lengthened not because of its 35.3 percent rating but because there’s a lot of room to explore in the characters’ lives.
“The story has the ability to expand,” says director Ruel Bayani. “It is rich and complex. The characters are richly textured. During its presscon in Teatrino, we told everybody Tayong Dalawa is going to be a long show whether it will be successful or not.”
The following the Primetime Bida series is enjoying hinges a lot on the storytelling. Direk Ruel shares they are able to come up with a structure that makes televiewers think the story is nearing its end when it has just started.
“It’s a testament to how a story is sustaining the people’s interest and putting them at the edge of their seat,” the director adds.
If many think Audrey (Kim Chiu) will end up with JR (Gerald), they should think again. The think-tank behind the show will “exhaust all the possibilities that the ending is not predictable.” It will always be a roller coaster ride for the characters as they confront new twists and turns.
Will the crying and fighting end? Direk Ruel doesn’t want to give any hint. Tayong Dalawa, however, will remain a contemporary/modern drama — a cut-above-the-edge soap kissing goodbye to the days of Esperanza.
What also endears the show to viewers is its natural, unscripted dialogues (like the conversation between Cherry Pie Picache and Gina Pareño). They sound like they come straight from real life.
For the past five months it has been on air, Tayong Dalawa has caught the attention of the younger audience. It has also received snail mails from the average Juan dela Cruz and e-mails from those who live in posh subdivisions.
Direk Ruel says the characters are not caricature or two dimensional. They can be bida and kontrabida in the story. Thus, the televiewers can feel for them and understand where they are coming from. That’s why the public either sides with Gerald or Jake. Jake is also part of the upcoming Star Cinema’s Villa Estrella. We will see him as Alex, one of the visitors who will unravel the mysteries of the villa’s dark, murky water.
What’s his reaction that some people express interest in reformatting Tayong Dalawa in their countries?
“It’s an achievement that they wish to buy the show and let their actors portray Tayong Dalawa characters,” replies Ruel. “It only shows that we are world class and can come up with something the global audience can watch because of its universal themes (e.g. family, love and friendship).”
At the end of the day, Tayong Dalawa’s success is still attributed to the collaborative efforts among stars, creative people and production staff. It has a credible cast with the right attitude — no ego tripping.
Tayong Dalawa has surpassed all the physically and emotionally draining scenes because of the cast’s energy, says direk Ruel.
TD is really suck. I d'nt view it anymore!!!This TD is just giving Jake a training and exposure to Kimerald's fans not knowing that that it's a torture for us fans!!!Anong yang Villa Estrella advertisement d'yan kay Jake!!!Kimerald world ito if you knw!!! We are not interested on jake!!! Kung may show si Jake i- Boycott namin dahil sa ginawa ninyo sa Kimerald sa Tayong Dalawa!!!! Please if you can understand end TD...Oe else kung ano pa ang gagawin naming mga fans!!!
I agree! I've also stopped watching. Just waiting for Gerald and Kim to have more screen moments so that I can watch the show again. I don't like what's happening in the story. It's no longer interesting if Audrey is no longer with JR.
I agree!!! Tayong Dalawa means Dave and Jr and Audrey is just a flower just to use Kimerald in this teleserye! Dahil kung wala ang Kimerald sino namang manood sa ganitong teleserye na puno ng violence within the family...Hoy!!!Writer and Director mahiya naman kayong i-show 'to to other countries you are showing bad influence to others!!! i know the td.they extend how come always dave and dave to show.its look like dave[jake]is the number one in this show.what happen the kimerald and jr and also audrey they are to sacrifice for all their mess.what happen the problem before dave[jake]remember when they are practicing in the army his problem can not even done,his not also went to jail.we didnt understand about the twist,we are tired to see now dave[jake]he always coming out its look like his the only one celebrity in that show his not even good to act,no feeling just like when his mamita died[helen gamboa]we just laugh.we think the directors,writers and the others they have favorites they are unfair;please give more practice a lot of practice for dave[jake cuenca]he dont know how to act its a big embarassing to all if he is the one to coming out to that show TD.we are not happy to watch coz theres a lot of changing,what happen the kimerald[kim & GERALD].
I hope I am right with the story line right now. I can see Gerald acting prowess is showing. Kahit walang dialogue siya pero ang expression nang mukha and his eyes says it all, you can feel all the emotions that he wants to convey. I just hope the directors will take note that the fans watch the show because of Kim & Gerald no pun to other casts. I salute the veteran actors involved but wiothout Kim & Gerald i do not think that you will have this big audience and put TD teleserye no.1. I have seen so many loveteams come and go but here I am 50 years old and I fell in love and captivated by these two . What you see in them is real: the chemistry, caring, love and respect for each other. That is why millions of fans reacts to them including me.I hope when you are done with all the twists and turns you want it will all come to the finale all of us fans want to see JR and Audrey belongs together . Don't keep it too long you might loose your audience . But for now I'm one of those who has an open mind and will continue to watch TD and because I adore Gerald and Kim .
Gerald and Kim I'm a new fan. I just love watching you both and I hope you'll never change. Stay humble and true. What you both have is rare and I hope you'll treasure it forever. We your fans support you and love you at sana ang tinatamasa ninyong tagumpay ay magpatuloy . Habang tumatagal ang inyong pag-arte sa harap nang kamera ay pagaling nang pagaling and it shows your maturity. Marami na akong hinangaan na loveteam. Pero kayong dalawa ewan ko ba very special at totoong totoo kayo. I will be one of those millions of fans na nangangarap na ang pagiging mag loveteam ninyo ay hindi lang sa screen kundi pati na rin sa totoong buhay. What's that again?? Audrey could possibly end up with DAVE? My goodness, with the character like Dave, no one deserves him. It is not Jake or Gerald, but who's deserving of whom. By the way the prison scenes are NOt at all realistic. I have been a prison worker and volunteer for 10 years pero hindi ganun ang nangyayari sa mga jails. In fact I know where the scenes were shot. May Correctional for Women pa nga..goodness. Baka in the end, bagsak na ang rating ng TD, affected pa ang Kimerald. GISING ABS CBN..!! Tapusin nyo na ang TD and let Kimerald have new and bigger projects! Pag sobrang kain namin, masusuka din kami sa kabusugan. Maawa kayo kay Kimerald.
This show will just end up of the story of JAKE JAKE and JAKE then JAKE, i just dont get it y? some people likes the character of jake... is it because his the one who always have a scene on da stupid show, or is it because gusto lang nila pasikatin si JAKE, not being mean or choosy or anything.. kasi parang ginagawang masama ang KIMERALD, tapos si Jake daming upcoming show, tapos sila KG-meron nga upcoming movie tapos sinasabi pa nila paghihiwalayin nila. NAKU!!!, GUMISING NA ANG ABS-CBN, at palitan na ang lines or FINISH the show., i cant just bare watching TAYONG DALAWA, when all i can see is JAKE, JAKE, JAKE and then JAKE and making KIMERALD da bad ones and making them the one with NO HAPPY ENDING.. GRABE KAKALOKA.!!!!!.
I could not believe TD will be shown to other Asian countries? TD is such a very unrealistic T.V. drama in which the format is like a sari sari. Every scene doen't coincide with the next episode. Think of Marelene who was discovered to be the real wife, where's the pension of David Garcia Senior? Why are they becoming hard upP What happened to Ingrid for the case of forgery? a lot of unbelievable scenes. Like others, I thought TD is for KIMERALD but unfortunately for Jake!!! I don't bother myself watching this TD not unless they will twist the story for KIMERALD only. Jake no way!!!!

Yes, please give more acting roles every night to KIM and Gerald, sila lang inaabangan namin tapos konti lang ang palabas nila. Sana Happy ending silang dalawa. Kasi we feel sleepy if wala silang palabas. To the scriptwriter include them kasi sila ang purpose why we are still here supporting them. ABS=CBN should give Gerald and Kim more important roles in Tayong Dalawa! Nakakainis na ang takbo ng storya! Mukha atang talagang pinaglalayo nila si JR at Audrey! Nakakatamad nang manood!
