ABS-CBN gathers a powerhouse cast for ‘Tayong Dalawa'
Rachalle Siazon ( ABS-CBN Interactive ) 01.17.09
ABS-CBN has tapped the brightest stars of television, movies, and theater for its newest primetime offering, Tayong Dalawa. Award-winners like Gina Pareño, Cherry Pie Picache, Alessandra de Rossi, Coco Martin, Helen Gamboa, and Miguel Faustmann lend their talents and their awesome onscreen magic to make the new teleserye even more impressice.
Gina Pareño has reaped seven Best Actress awards for Kubrador, including the ones from international award-giving bodies such as Amiens International Film Festival, Brussels International Independent Film, and Pacific Meridian International Film Festival of Asian Pacific Countries. Cherry Pie Picache’s performance in 2007’s Foster Child gave her Best Actress nods from Durban International Film Festival, Gawad Urian Awards, and Golden Screen Awards. Coco Martin’s role in Masahista also earned him various recognitions from Brisbane International Film Festival, Locarno International Film Festival, Torino International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival, and Young Critics Circle. Several of Alessandra de Rossi’s films paved the way for her to bag a couple of Best Supporting Actress Awards from Metro Manila Film Fest (MMFF) and Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS) plus the title Princess of RP Movies from Guillermo Mendoza Memorial Foundation, Inc. These actors will play key roles as members of J.R. a.k.a David Garcia Jr.’s (Gerald Anderson) family. “Lagi silang nandun para tulungan ako iimprove yung atake ko sa mga eksena namin. Actually may time na nagtetaping ako sa Baseko, tapos ang linya ko, ‘Nay papasok ako sa PMA okay lang sa ’yo?’ Tapos si Ms. Cherry Pie, tinuruan ako kung paano bigyan ng impact kahit dun sa ganun kasimpleng conversation,” Gerald said when asked about his co-stars’ influence on him.
Known as the dancing queen of the ‘60s, Helen Gamboa is also a proud bearer of a Best Actress Award for Bagong Bayani and gained critical acclaim for her unforgettable portrayals in Ransom and Oras-oras, Araw-araw. From Star Award’s Best New Actress to Gawad Urian’s Best Supporting Actress Nominee, singer-actress Agot Isidro has gone far with her impressive mix of subtlety in acting and powerful screen presence. A renowned stage actor, Miguel Faustmann has bagged an Aliw Awards Best Actor trophy and is often nominated for his musical and theater performances. Theirs is the small but affluent family who will raise the legitimate David Garcia Jr. or simply Dave, who will be played by Coverboy heartthrob Jake Cuenca. “I remember there was an instance na I was doing a scene with Ms. Agot and Tito Miguel tapos nakita niya (Agot) nung playback na may tendency ako to use hand gesture, she gave me pointers not to use it para yung intensity ng emotions mas malabas dun sa facial expression ko. With Tita Helen naman, I always pick up something new every time I work with her. Hindi ko na mabilang yung ilang beses na natuto ako sa kanila. Being around the cast of Tayong Dalawa is truly a learning experience,” the former Palos star admitted.
Also part of the multi-awarded cast is Mylene Dizon who recently bagged Cinemalaya’s Best Actress Award for 100, an indie film which was screened at the 13th Pusan International Film Festival. Spanky Manikan, a veteran TV and stage actor with Metro Manila Film Fest and Catholic Mass Media acting awards under his belt, ups the level of acting expected from the ensemble cast. Grand slam actor Jiro Manio has constantly proven his dramatic prowess particularly in his earlier works such as Mila, Bagong Buwan, and Magnifico. With over 130 films in a span of 65 years, Anita Linda is truly a movie legend and a screen icon, best known for her top-notch portrayals and for being the first actress to receive Maria Clara Award back in 1951.
This powerhouse cast are the characters who will spice up the conflict between the two David Garcias who not only share the same name but also the heart of their ladylove, Audrey, played by Kim Chiu. “Sila yung talagang lagi kong nakakaeksena. Nararamdaman mo talaga yung kaeksena mo,” she proudly shared.
Watch as Tayong Dalawa spins a gripping family saga beginning tomorrow, January 19, right after I Love Betty La Fea on Primetime Bida.
