Is there a rivalry brewing between Gerald and Jake?

Two of the hottest heartthrobs in showbiz Jake Cuenca and Gerald Anderson are vying for Kim Chiu’s attention in Tayong Dalawa. Both of them are playing characters named David Garcia Jr., one born to a life of privilege and the other, of hardship. Fate will bring them together and the two become sworn brothers until the secrets of their past come out.

While they play rivals in the teleserye, some people are thinking that it might be spilling over into real life as well. During the grand press conference of Tayong Dalawa at Teatrino in Greenhills, the members of the cast all contributed prizes to be raffled off. Gerald’s cash gift of P10,000 impressed the press while Jake’s refusal to announce the model of the Nokia phone that he shelled out for the raffle prompted the attendees to speculate who was the more generous one between the two.

When he was later teased about why he kept mum about his raffle contribution, Jake replied, “Uy yung cellphone naman na pina-raffle ko maganda ah. Siyempre ang sa akin hindi na importanteng i-announce yun. Pagkadating niya (the cellphone winner) sa reception, [sinabi niya] ‘Wow eto pala nakuha ko!’ O ‘di ba maganda na magugulat na lang siya? Pagdating niya dun (claiming area) magugulat din naman siya sa regalo. Hindi ko na kailangang iyabang kung magkano ‘di ba?” he explained in between laughs.

Whether their supposed rivalry will eventually extend to matters of the heart still remains to be seen.
