Does Gerald Anderson have a Hollywood admirer?

The success of Tayong Dalawa is definitely not just a nationwide phenomenon since it is also a hit with TFC subscribers abroad. As a matter of fact, there have been previous reports that even Fil-Am Disney artist Anna Perez de Tagle is a huge fan of the show and its lead stars Gerald Anderson, Jake Cuenca, and Kim Chiu. Granddaughter of legendary Filipina singer Sylvia La Torre, the 18-year-old actress is best known for her roles as Ashley Dewitt in Hannah Montana, Ella in Camp Rock, and Miracle in Cake T.V. She will also soon be seen as Joy in the remake of the ‘80s hit musicale Fame, showing September of this year.

When ABS-CBN.com told Gerald about it, he was quick to express how flattered he is to be noticed by Disney star. “Wow! Wow! That’s very overwhelming of course. Naku, igu-google ko ‘yan. Wow that’s amazing talaga. I guess hard work really pays off. This is the first time I’ve heard about it and I am just really happy na people are noticing my craft kahit ng mga taga-ibang bansa. So wow lang talaga.” Given the chance, the 20-year-old heartthrob said that he would like to meet Anna possibly during Star Magic’s concert tour in the States this June or if she decides to come here to the Philippines anytime soon.

Despite the praises he is reaping these days, Gerald stressed that he refuses to let fame go to his head. “A lot has changed in my life because of Tayong Dalawa. Ang dami ng nangyayari sa akin, like yungpagkakaroon ng AFP award and isang top-rating teleserye so talagang we’re very happy with all these blessings, you know. Masaya kami sa outcome nito but most especially with regards to the impact of the show on the viewers. And no, hindi naman lumalaki ulo ko. It’s just overwhelming lang talaga. So for me, I just want to stay down-to-earth and focused to my work.”

When asked if there has been any romantic progress between him and leading lady Kim, Gerald simply answered that they are too busy with work to even think about pursuing a serious commitment. He also wanted to assure his fans that his team-up with Kim is stronger than ever despite rumors saying that he has outshone Kim this time around. “No, no, of course not! Wala kaming inggitan or anything. Kumbaga salitan lang kami. It depends naman on the show, on the project, at kung anong storya. And hindi naman namin napag-uusapan yung mga ganun sa set. Basta masaya lang kami na may show kami pareho,” he said to their defense.

But even though the two continue to captivate fans with their unbeatable tandem, Gerald is already mature enough to accept the fact that they have to pursue individual projects sooner or later. “Well, kumbaga, kung maghihiwalay man kami in the future at least handa na kami. Marami kaming pinagdaanan as a love team and we’re just happy sa mga nangyari sa amin in the past and what’s happening to us now. Alam naman natin kung paano magreact [ang mga Kimerald fans], pero wala tayong choice eh, kailangan nating tanggapin when that time comes. Anyway, we’d still be there to support each other no matter what,” he finally stated.
