A ‘royal’ loveteam

Without a doubt — and following the spectacular box-office success of their movie I’ve Fallen For You — Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson are showbiz’s hottest young loveteam. In fact, showbiz insiders have taken to calling them the ‘royal loveteam’...
because like the mythological Greek king Midas, everything Kim and Gerald touch turns to gold. The latest proof is Love Spell Presents: Cindy-rella, which stars the two and Be Bench: The Model Search finalist John James Uy in a Cinderella-type story that also borrows elements from the popular Hollywood film Kate and Leopold starring Meg Ryan and Hugh Jackman.
In the film, Meg plays a woman who falls in love with a dashing Prince Charming figure from the past; in Cindy-rella, the story begins in the fairytale world, where Prince William (John James) is celebrating his birthday with a grand ball. Among those invited was the pretty and kind-hearted Cindy-rella (Kim). But on the night of the ball, her evil stepsisters and stepmother tear her clothes and lock her in the basement. Thankfully, her fairy godmother comes to the rescue and helps her make it to the ball with a fancy dress and carriage and a warning to come home by midnight, or else.
At the ball, Prince William chooses Cindy-rella as his dancing partner. Her family grows envious and throws her into a magical well, which links the fairytale world and the real world. The poor lass comes into the real world unconscious; fortunately, she is saved by a modern-day Prince Charming, Albert (Gerald). He falls in love with her and helps her survive the real world. But the dilemma is this: can they be together when they belong to different worlds? Will Cindy choose Albert, a normal human being, over a dashing prince in the fairytale world? Will there be a happy ending?
As of this writing, no one knows how the story will turn out. But there is definitely a happy ending in the offing for Kim and Gerald, who are clearly enjoying tremendous support from ABS-CBN management. This is already their fourth time to star in a Love Spell episode; they starred in the first episode, a gender-bending comedy titled My Boy, My Girl in which they ‘switched’ identities.
