Gerald Anderson is really playing sweet music with Kim Chiu. In fact, the young actor visited Kim during her taping for the Rejoice “Kering-Keri” music video not once, but twice.

It was obvious that Kim’s face lit up when she saw Gerald. The two did small talk but Gerald had to leave because he needed to rush somewhere. But at 11 pm, Gerald was back, this time with something for Kim. When asked what it was, he answered, “It’s Kim’s costume requirements tomorrow for ASAP.” How true are the rumors that Kim spends a lot of time in Gerald’s condo in Quezon City. “She has stepped foot in my condo only once for a quick stopover. We were traveling together for an out-of-town shoot and I forgot something and she went up with me,” he said. But are they an item? “Ha ha ha! We’re just friends, very close friends.”

Meanwhile, smoother days are in for Kim as she stars in Rejoice “Kering-Keri” music video that features her as a young simple probinsyana who travels to Manila to join a dance contest. Of course, a lot of obstacles come her way as mean city girls try to sabotage her chances of winning, but with the help of her smooth hair, she overcomes them all.

Kim can really relate to this character—a simple provincial lass who dreamt big and joined a contest that forever changed her life. Kim’s big break came when she won Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition last year. She says of her character in the music video, “It’s about a determined girl who would do everything to make her dreams come true. Nothing or no one can stop her. Talagang nakaka-relate ako because I am full of hopes and aspirations.”

One of Kim’s aspirations is to endorse a shampoo brand, Rejoice in particular. “Excited nga ako kasi Rejoice Rich Shampoo talaga ang ginagamit ko. [You can] even ask my dad. Ito talaga po ang pinapabili ko, eh. Kaya sobrang tuwa ako ng nalaman ko na gagawin ko ’to.”

Rejoice is going full force with Kim as she performs their latest song and dance, “Kering-Keri.” This comes from a history of hits from Rejoice, starting with “Sunod Sa Galaw” in 2004, “Walang Sabit” in 2005, “Instant Ayos” and “Straight na Natural” in 2006. The song “Kering-Keri” was composed by Christian Martinez, who himself supervised the song recording with Kim, while the dance was choreographed by Anna Feliciano.

Says Pauline Lao, associate director for shopper and consumer connection of Procter and Gamble, “Kim is truly the Rejoice Girl—when you watch her in her telenovelas, you can see that her hair shines without any effort. Plus, Kim is someone who is young, fun, talented and an inspiration to other girls. Be it dancing, singing or acting, talagang kering-keri ni Kim. We’re so excited that we are now working with her.”

Kim had a blast shooting the Rejoice “Kering-Keri” music video. In the video, she is seen singing and dancing to the song. For Kim, “it was quite easy doing those scenes because, thankfully, my hair can move easily. That’s what I love about Rejoice. Kahit wala akong time to go to the salon because of my busy schedule, mag-shampoo lang ako with Rejoice maganda na ang hair ko. Kering-keri ko talaga because my hair is smooth kahit anong galaw ko!”
