Kim Chiu replaced Pops Fernandez as host at 38th Box-Office Entertainment Awards
Rose Garcia ( PEP ) 05.16.08

Kasama sina Enchong Dee, Alex Gonzaga, Regine Angeles, Niña Jose at David Chua.

Kim, patay-malisya kay Gerald
Vinia Vivar ( Journal Online ) 05.12.08

Korean makers of 'My Girl' excited about Pinoy version
( ABS-CBN News ) 05.12.08

South Korean TV and radio network SBS (Seoul Broadcasting System) is very excited about the preparations being done for a Philippine version of its hit TV series "My Girl".

"My Girl" is ABS-CBN's first franchise drama from SBS Korea. The popular TV series is a story of love and friendship, and its Philippine version will star former PBB Teen Edition Big Winner and teen idol Kim Chiu.

The first taping week of the Pinoy version of "My Girl" has already been broadcasted in Korea and earned high praise and acclaim.

Fans are also excited about the on-going recording of the original soundtrack of "My Girl," under ASAP Music.

As part of her preparations for the role, Chiu had to practice speaking in Mandarin. She said that she was a bit challenged with the language but with the help of her language coach, she was able to adjust.

The production team is also busy with taping in different locations like in Tagaytay, Batanggas and Marikina.

Instead of the strawberry fields in the original South Korean series, viewers are now wondering what plantation will be used as the setting for the Pinoy "My Girl". Will it be an elegant vineyard or a corn plantation?

Pinoy "My Girl" also stars Gerald Anderson, Enchong Dee, Alex Gonzaga, David Chua, Regine Angeles and Nina Jose.

Gerald stars in first Filipinized Koreanovela
( Manila Standard Today ) 05.07.08

Another first from ABS-CBN!

Placing its mark in the history of Asian television, the Kapamilya channel offers the very first Philippine version of a Koreanovela—My Girl! Closing a deal with SBS Korea, the said drama series will undoubtedly become a big hit in the country and even around Asia!

Chinese cutie Kim Chiu was chosen as the leading lady (Jasmine) who was surprised and even cried during the announcement at the Dream Big Press Con. In terms of who would be her partner, it was the talk of the town as people had their own speculations on who would luckily land the part. The role was indeed meant for Gerald Anderson. The Kimerald tandem prevailed and there are no questions about their love team making it big not only in the country but even in different parts of Asia because of the success of the teleserye Sana Maulit Muli which has been shown and dubbed in different languages. It was a big hit in Taiwan and will be shown in Cambodia (dubbed in Khmer) and Vietnam soon.

Not long after being known to the public, various projects came pouring in, from his starring role in Sana Maulit Muli to the fantaserye Love Spell Presents: Cindy-rella. And now, in My Girl, the newest series people will go crazy over.

Having been part of two movies, First Day High and I’ve Fallen For You, Gerald became one of the most in-demand artists in TV guestings and endorsements not only because of his popularity and talent but also due to his wholesome image as a role model.

In just a year, the multi-talented Fil-Am has already received dozens of awards. Some of his nominations include the Most Promising Male Star for First Day High of GMMSF’s 37th Box Office Entertainment Awards, Best New Movie Actor for First Day High of the 23rd Star Awards for Movies, and Best Breakthrough Performance by an Actor for First Day High from the Enpress Golden Screen Awards.

Gerald has won as Most Popular Love Team (with Kim Chiu) for First Day High of GMMSF’s 37th Box Office Entertainment Awards, Best New Male TV Personality for Sana Maulit Muli of the 21st Star Awards for Television, Pop TV Show of the Year (Sana Maulit Muli), Pop TV Character of the Year (Bokbok, Sana Maulit Muli), and Pop Celebrity Cameo on a Music Video of the Year (“Loveteam” by Itchyworms) of Asap Pop Viewer’s Choice Awards 2007.

These are proof that Gerald is well-loved and supported by his growing number of fans. And with the guidance and wisdom of respected directors for ABS-CBN, the young actor continues to be honed. He is also now ready for mature roles, the reason why the management believes that Gerald will portray Julian’s character perfectly. His role is an heir to a big corporation and because of an unlikely situation, Jasmine and Julian will be forced to live in a web of lies and deceits.

Watch out for other updates for the details of the much-awaited Koreanovela. The newest romantic teleserye My Girl will soon be shown starring the hottest love team of Kim and Gerald on ABS-CBN!

Madramang relasyon
Rowena Agilada ( Tempo ) 05.02.08

Talkin’ about My Girl
( ABS-CBN Interactive ) 05.01.08
Kim Chiu’s debut--and her nervousness about the event--was anything but ordinary. After all, it’s not everyday one of showbiz’s prettiest young stars turns 18, with cameras following her around for a TV special to boot. Any debutante would understandably be nervous like Kim was last April 26 at the GlassGarden. It was already 7 pm and her make-up was not done yet. Even worse, last minute adjustments had to be made on her gown.

So did Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition’s Cinderella make it to her the ball on time? She did and even managed to talk to ABS-CBN.com about her journey from shy, giggly teen to confident--but still giggly--woman.

Growing up
Looking back on the days after winning PBB, Kim realizes how blessed her life has become. In three years, she had established a name for herself in showbiz and gained hordes of fans. She also gets gifts from fans, support from sponsors, and lots of traveling opportunities from her work. More importantly, Kim is happy with the fruits of her labor. At her young age, she has been able to afford a Grandia, a Fortuner, and centralized air conditioning for her condo among others. But the biggest accomplishment for her is that she has been able to provide for her family, the people that matter to her the most.

For most of us, Kim will always be that bubbly girl who can chase our troubles away with just a smile. Now that she has turned 18, she takes a look back on some of the most memorable moments in her life.

Unforgettable childhood experience

Favorite vacation spot with family
Mahilig kaming mag-swim, maghabulan, tsaka mag-volleyball.”

Favorite hangout
“Sa Cebu kasi merong mall dun na may malaking tambayan. Dun kami lagi ng mga classmates ko. Nagte-take out lang kami ng pagkain tapos dadalhin namin dun. As in marami kami, tapos iba-iba pa ng ugali.

Most embarrassing experience
“Yung first menstruation ko.

Kilig moments with boys
Finally, nung nagka-boyfriend ako, first year high school ako tapos siya third year na.
