‘My Girl’ airs today on ABS-CBN Primetime Bida
Crispina Martinez-Belen ( Manila Bulletin Online ) 05.26.08
The first franchise of the hit Korean TV series "My Girl" premieres today on ABS-CBN Primetime Bida, and it will prove once more the appeal and strength of the so-called Kimerald loveteam of Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson, winners of the first PBB Teen Edition.
Since they came out from Big Brother’s House, Kim and Gerald’s popularity continues to soar with the support and adoration of their fans who coined their screen partnership as "Kimerald."
Their fan base reaches up to Asian countries such as Taiwan and Cambodia, and also in Africa where their teleserye "Sana Maulit Muli" has also been translated and aired. On and offcam, their chemistry is remarkable. And this they will prove once more in "My Girl." Kim and Gerald are truly the most suitable pair to be cast in the Pinoy version of "My Girl," directed by Erick Salud and Jerome Pobocan.
Kim will play the role of Jasmine, the loveable character who is simple yet a fighter, witty and charming and whose favorite expression is "tira-tira." Kim’s role is perfect for her and even she herself is excited for their premiere. In fact, she is also nervous with the upcoming turnout of the first episode but she shares that she gave her best for her supporters and fans. From the trailer itself, many have already found it hilarious and many are so excited to watch the series. In the teleserye, we can see a Kim that is cheerful and funny, not far from the Kim off cam.
Gerald will be her leading man as Julian, the rich, well-educated and serious heir to a very big business company. Because of an unexpected and comical incident, the two will meet and start a budding relationship.
Joining them are other very promising and talented young stars. One of them is Gerald’s rival for Jasmine’s heart who is Nico, the spoiled and party-loving best friend of Julian, played by Enchong Dee. There will also be another love triangle in the story, Nina Jose was chosen as Anika, the beauty queen ex-girlfriend of Julian who comes back from the US. Alex Gonzaga will play the role of Christine, Jasmine’s best friend who is funny, wacky and somewhat tactless. Her twin brother is new talent David Chua as Jeffrey, the nerdy, naive but loyal friend who will fall in love with Shiela, played by Regine Angeles, who is the trustworthy and dependable executive assistant of Julian.
Aside from the young stars, they will also be joined by veteran actors and actress of the industry such as Ronaldo Valdez as Julian’s grandfather Lolo Greg, Bing Loyzaga as Auntie Bel, the motherly aunt of Julian and Lito Pimentel as the loving yet gambling father of Jasmine, Tatay Chito. K Brosas will play Tita Tessie, Nico’s ambitious and envious mother and DJ Durano as John, Lolo Greg’s loyal bodyguard and driver. He will also be Auntie Bel’s love interest.
"My Girl" is the story of Jasmine whose destiny will change as she is hired to work for Julian and pretend to be his long lost cousin. But she will discover that it’s difficult to hide her true feelings. Because of the complicated situation they started, they cannot fight for their love. How will Jasmine and Julian be able to tell the truth?
All of Kim, Gerald and Kimerald’s fans, whether here or abroad who watch TFC, are very excited for the upcoming "My Girl." Even "My Girl" loyal fans worldwide are awaiting for its pilot.
Yes, there’s also a soundtrack for "My Girl" which will soon be released, with songs like "Sabihin Mo Na" and "Crazy Love" (Chinese version) by Kim Chiu, ‘Sabihin Mo Na (duet)" by Kim and Gerald. "My Girl" by Sam Milby, "Gulo, Hilo, Lito" by Acel Van Omen and Yeng Constantino’s version of "Sabihin Mo Na."

Kim, kabado sa ‘My Girl’
Rey Pumaloy ( Abante Tonite ) 05.26.08
So, sana, magustuhan nila.” asam niya.
Kim Chiu, bagong Maricel Soriano
Ronald C. Carballo ( Pinoy Parazzi )
Pinoy version of hit Koreanovela "My Girl" premieres tonight
( ABS-CBN News ) 05.26.08
The Filipino version of the hit Koreanovela "My Girl" premieres on May 26th on ABS-CBN’s Primetime Bida! Young actress Kim Chiu stars in the series.
Chiu did a lot of preparations for her role including learning to speak in Mandarin. Kim will play the character of Jasmine, a poor yet courageous, brave and industrious girl.
Since she travels to different places with her father, Jasmine is street smart, charming and witty. She is also a fighter and uses her favorite line "Tira-tira!" when provoked.
Because of a unique situation, she will meet Julian (Gerald Anderson) and in an unexpected event, Jasmine and Julian will be forced to live in a web of lies and deceit.
In the short span of time that Chiu has been in the industry, she has already shown her acting prowess which has gained praises from her co-actors, directors and fans.
She has acted in "GoKada Go", "Love Spell" and "Your Song", but her biggest success as an actress was when she starred in the series "Sana Maulit Muli" which was aired in Taiwan, Malaysia, China and other Asian countries.
The success of her teleserye gained different awards and resulted in two films, "First Day High" and "I’ve Fallen for You."
Chiu became a recording artist and did an album under Star Records, "Gwa Ai Di".
She won awards for this, such as "Song of the Year" and "Best Female Pop Performance" for the single, "Crazy Love."
"My Girl"s original soundtrack is also under way and will soon be released with songs from Kim Chiu as well as Sam Milby and Yeng Constantino.
From numerous TV guestings, different teleseryes, being a singer and an in-demand and effective product endorser, Kim is one of the most successful and popular teen actresses in the country today.
"My Girl" is directed by Erick Salud and Jerome Pobocan.
Meet the rest of the cast of the Proudly Pinoy version of "My Girl" on May 26 on ABS-CBN’s Primetime Bida. Kapit na! "Tira-tira!"
Vivian Vivar ( Philstar ) 05.26.08
As for Gerald, we have yet to see a few episodes more dahil sa pilot, hindi maitatangging si Kim talaga ang lumutang nang husto.
Kim, Gerald popular in other countries, too
Bong De Leon ( Journal Online ) 05.26.08
Did you know that in some parts of Asia like Taiwan and Cambodia, and elsewhere like Africa, Pinoy stars Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson are also popular because their teleserye, "Sana Maulit Muli" is shown in these countries dubbed in their respective languages?
While other love teams are breaking up, Kim and Gerald are tremendously evolving. They are one of the hottest pairs in the ABS-CBN camp, especially now that they have a new teleserye, "My Girl" which starts airing today, in the Kapamilya channel.
We have seen the first episode in a sneak preview and Kim plays the role to a T. While she has proven her mettle for drama, "My Girl" will show that she can do both. Her spunky character emerged as funny as well as dramatic, as she portrays a girl who works so hard for her unlucky father (played by Lito Pimentel). She admits, though, that she’s nervous by its outcome, as she is not sure whether her fans will accept her with a new image.
Gerald, on the other hand, plays a rich yuppie named Julian who is serious in life, reared by his grandfather (played by Ronaldo Valdez) and later on, groomed to be his successor in the business empire he built. It is a feel- good teleserye, and shows no dull moment in its first episode and we hope they could be consistent. The pair gets good support from K Brosas, NiƱa Jose, Alex Gonzaga, David Chua and Regine Angeles.
The soundtrack of "My Girl " is soon out with songs like "Sabihin Mo Na," "My Girl," "Gulo, Hilo Lito," and Yeng Constantino’s version of "Sabihin Mo Na." Those who are using the Internet, can see "My Girl" through TFCNow. They can just log on to www. absc bnnow.com

Mild shock
Dolly Anne Carvajal ( Philippine Daily Inquirer ) 05.25.08
Kim Chiu is still in a state of mild shock after Gerald Anderson gave her a pink Ford Lynx for her 18th birthday. The Pinoy “My Girl” is tickled pink because of all the good things coming her way. Her new teleserye premieres tonight on ABS-CBN’s Primetime Bida block. She learned Mandarin for her role as Jasmine, a poor girl who meets Julian (portrayed by Gerald).
Is the car that Gerald gave Kim a sign that he already thinks of her as his girl? “I’m allowed to have a boyfriend already,” Kim Chiu says, blushing. Was the green light on when Gerald drove the pink Ford to Kim’s heart?
