Kim Chiu says her parents’ separation is the reason why she is afraid to commit

Kim Chiu got tongue-tied when host Kris Aquino asked her during her special 19th birthday celebration on The Buzz for a message for her parents, who have separated some years back. She then divulged that her parents’ separation was the main reason why she’s still hesitating over accepting Gerald Anderson as her boyfriend. “Ayokong masaktan muna. Siyempre lagi yan di ba, pag mag-boyfriend, mag-girlfriend laging nasasaktan?” Kim also said that it might still take some time before she gets into a commitment and she is thankful that Gerald is not putting any pressure on her. “Hindi naman siya nangungulit. Hindi rin siya laging nagtatanong, parang wala lang. Walang tanungan kung, ‘ano na ba tayo’ hindi siya makulit kaya okay naman siya,” she said. When asked if she is willing to be partnered to another leading man aside from Gerald, Kim said that she is ready. “Siyempre wala po ako among magagawa. Gagawin ko po ‘yung trabaho ko kung sino ang ibibigay sa akin. Trabaho lang.”

Trying to hold back tears, the star of Tayong Dalawa also expressed her gratitude to her siblings for being understanding of her career’s demands. Kim’s Cebu-based siblings all went to Manila to be with her on her birthday. “Thank you dahil lagi silang nandyan ‘pag wala akong time tumawag, sila ‘yung tumatawag. Tapos pumupunta sila dito sa Manila, tapos sinu-surprise nila ako, ‘Hoy labas naman tayo, lagi ka na lang nagtatrabaho,’ ” Kim shared. She said that her siblings are the people who remind her that there is life beyond work. The young actress also shared that all her hard work is really for her family and that her dream house is being built for her family to be reunited again under one roof.
