Maraming tao sa loob ng sinehan nang manood kami ng Paano Na Kaya? nina Kim Chiu at Gerald Anderson kamakalawa nang hapon sa THX cinema ng TriNoma.

Isang fan mo­vie ang Paano Na Kaya? na ginamitan ng tipikal na formula ng Star Cinema sa kanilang teen romantic flicks, pero in fairness ay matino ang pagkakagawa nito.

Sandamakmak na istorya ng mag-best friend na nagkainlaban na ang napanood natin sa big screen, ang mala­king pagkakaiba lang ay sina Kim at Gerald ang bida rito.

Tama ang sinabi ni Direk Ruel Bayani na med­yo nag-level up na rito ang magka-loveteam dahil hindi na lang puro pa-cute at pakilig ang alam nilang gawin.

Si Kim ang pinakamahirap ang role dahil halos buong pelikula ay umiiyak at nasasaktan ang karakter niyang si Mae Chua, na inlab-in­laban sa bespren niyang si Bogs Marasigan na ginampa­nan ni Gerald.

Parang naawa kami kay Kim dahil sa payat niyang ‘yon ay madalas pa siyang paluhain at api-apihin sa pelikula, pero in fairness to her ay consistent na magaling ang performance niya sa movie.

Mas totoo at mas naramdaman namin ang pagganap niya rito kesa sa I Love You, Goodbye dahil bagay na bagay sa kanya ang role at hindi pilit ang kanyang akting. Tila mas kargado na ng emosyon si Kim pagkatapos ng hit teleserye nila ni Gerald na Ta­yong Dalawa at may le­vel of maturity na ang pag-arte niya. Feeling namin, pagtagal-tagal ay huhusay pa siya at magkakaroon ng lalim bilang aktres

Type na type namin si Kim sa eksenang subtle lang siya’t hindi nag-hysteria nang makita niyang nagmu-moment si Gerald at ang ex-girlfriend nitong si Melissa Ricks.

Klik na klik sa audience ‘yung dayalog niya kay Gerald na, “Sana lumayo ka na lang! Eh kaso, syinota mo ako eh! Syi­nota mo ang best friend mo!” habang huma­hagulgol.

Okey rin si Gerald, pero minsan ay may effort ang akting niya at sa kanilang dalawa ay mas natural si Kim.

Sa mga eksenang topless si Gerald ay kitang-kita ang pagka-yummy niya (lalo na sa slight macho dancing scene niya). Ang guwapo ni Gerald sa screen, na nag-match sa tsinita beauty ni Kim kaya ang lakas ng kanilang chemistry.

Sa tatlong kissing scenes nila ay pinakamahaba ‘yung sa may en­ding na nakabuka ang mga bibig nila habang naghahalikan. At least ay hindi na pa-tweetums sina Kim-Gerald at keri na nilang maglaplapan.

Maganda ang roles dito nina Melissa Ricks at Robi Domingo. Si Melissa bilang nobyang ipinagpalit si Gerald sa ibang lalaki at si Robi bilang kababata ni Kim na may gusto sa kanya.

May special role si Zsa Zsa Padilla bilang ‘cougar’ mommy ni Ge­rald na may nobyong mas bata sa kanya (Guji Lorenzana). Maiksi lang ang role ni Zsa Zsa pero agaw-eksena pa rin siya.

Gerald Anderson signs up for two more Star Cinema movies

Gerald Anderson has a reason to celebrate because apart from the success of Paano Na Kaya?, which raked in P12 million on its opening day, he just signed up for two more movies with Star Cinema. During his contract signing with Star Cinema together with his Paano Na Kaya? leading lady and constant ka-love team Kim Chiu, Gerald expressed his gratitude to his mother film studio. “Sobra kaming natutuwa dahil malakas pa rin ang tiwala ng Star Cinema sa amin at binigyan pa nila kami ng two movies pa. Ang nasa contract namin ni Kim is two movies sa kanya, two movies din sa akin. Ewan ko lang kung magkasama kami dun o hindi. Let’s see.”

There are also plans for a movie that will star Gerald and the other young actors who headlined the action-fantasy series Agimat: Ang mga Alamat ni Ramon Revilla. “I’m very excited about that because alam naman nating lahat kung gaano naging successful ‘yung Agimat. Ang taas ng ratings nung sa akin na Tiagong Akyat at ngayon ‘yung Pepeng Agimat ni Jolo (Revilla). Sana matuloy kasi gusto kong magkasama kami sa isang project.” Agimat will next feature Coco Martin in the role of Tonyong Bayawak and Jake Cuenca as Elias Paniki.

The 20-year-old Fil-American cutie is thankful for having one successful project after another, and following the top-rating teleserye Tayong Dalawa, he and Kim proved they also have box-office draw with Paano Na Kaya? “Noong 2009 I was very thankful kasi napakaganda ng year para sa amin because Tayong Dalawa was very successful. Last Christmas I wished na sana magtuloy-tuloy pa ‘yung success. Now pagpasok ng taon napaka-successful ng Paano Na Kaya? at may two movies agad kaming naka-line up so I’m very happy.”

As for the real score between him and Kim, Gerald said that although he has been vocal about his courtship of the young Fil-Chinese actress, they would rather focus on taking care of their love team. “Hindi naman kasi kami nagmamadali. Also mahirap din na pagsabayin ‘yung personal at ang career. Four years na kaming magkasama ni Kim so I think we’re okay.”

Tuwang-tuwa si Direk Ruel dahil nang mag-ikot siya sa mga sinehan nu’ng opening day ng movie nu’ng Miyerkules ay ang daming taong nanonood at ang ganda ng reaksyon ng audience sa pelikula.

Sobrang thrilled si direk na nag-hit ang latest movie nina Kim at Gerald na naging anak-anakan niya sa Tayong Dalawa na siya rin ang nagdirehe.

Thankful din siya sa all out support ng Kimerald fans lalo pa’t kaya naman daw ginawa ang pelikula ay para sa avid fans nina Kim-Gerald.

Falling in love with one’s best friend could be a disaster, unless you’re lead characters in a teen flick. Then it’s full of impossibly good looking people and it always ends with a kiss. Paano na Kaya, Star Cinema’s first release for 2010, is a breath of fresh air after all that predictable festival franchise stuff. It’s sweet, airy, and not very complex. It’s like cotton candy in your mouth.

Adorable Kim Chiu plays Mae Chua, a good Filipino-Chinese girl, in love with her impossibly tisoy best friend, Gerald Anderson—equally impossibly called Bogs Marasigan. (Zsa Zsa Padilla plays his boozy socialite of a mother and she’s absolutely fabulous at it.) Mae is secretly in love with Bogs, who is naturally in love with someone else. It doesn’t take a genius (or a psychic) to predict the outcome of this love triangle: Mae becomes his girlfriend but secretly fears she’s just the rebound girl. Meanwhile, the ex girlfriend—who was so neatly disposed of in act one—comes back and so Bogs is forced to ask himself: who does he really love? The delicately lovely, funny, and adoring best friend or the ex-girlfriend and her cheating ways? I mean, honestly.

The good thing is that Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson look really good together on screen and can kiss with enough chemistry to convince us they are in love. Also, in fairness to director Ruel Bayani, the movie is well paced and the supporting cast is wonderful: opposite Zsa Zsa’s glamorous single mother, there’s Rio Locsin as Kim’s martyr of a mom, and Ricky Davao as the overbearing father. I was happy to see Cai Cortez as the sassy best friend (unfortunate about her wardrobe, though) and IC Mendoza as the witty gay sidekick.

Paano na Kaya has all the right ingredients—a strong love team dressed in a lot of cute teeny bopper outfits, a theme song, and lots of marketing from the network—and so it’s not surprising it made 10 million on its first day. And yes, it ends with a big kiss and delivers—albeit predictably—the happy ending, so why not make money off people who need to manufacture synthetic happiness in their lives?

Anyway, good for Kim and Gerald, those kids work hard.

I just wish they would stop using song titles as movie titles. Watch out—John Lloyd and Bea coming in February, yet another song title.

Is Kim Chiu ready to do sexier scenes?

Kim Chiu feels overwhelmed with the success of her and Gerald Anderson’s movie Paano Na Kaya. The movie hit ten million pesos on its first day. "Sobrang masaya kami kasi sabi andami daw tao sa mga sinehan, sa Cebu sabi ng kuya ko andami din daw tao tsaka nagsisigawan so parang ang sarap ng feeling kasi yung pinaghirapan namin nabigyan ng pansin kaya sobrang gaan ng feeling."

When Kim Chiu was asked what was the part of the film she can relate to the most in real life she said, "Nung una kaming nag-meet sa PBB (Pinoy Big Brother), medyo masungit ako sa kanya kasi (ang tingin ko sa kanya) ang sungit sungit, amboy-amboy (American boy), ang yabang kaya ayun, ang parang parehas sila noon ng character niya sa movie."

While they are still celebrating the success of Paano Na Kaya, they are already asked to do two more movies under Star Cinema. Kim and Gerald signed respective contracts yesterday, January 28. "Masaya kami dahil malakas pa rin yung tiwala ng Star Cinema sa amin. Super excited kami (although) hindi pa po namin alam kung magkasama kami sa two movies na yun," Gerald said.

With that, Kim Chui was asked if she is ready to play more mature roles that would require intimate scenes and reveal more skin. "Depende kung papayag sila Mr M (Johnny Manahan) na ganun ka-daring yung movie pero (personally) actually sa ngayon hindi pa (ako ready), actually yung katawan ko hindi pa handa magpa-daring kailangan ko pa mag-gain ng weight para mas maganda siya tingnan," Kim said adding she aims to gain at least 10 lbs. this year. Kim says that she will just follow Star Cinema's lead if the film outfit would pair her with other Kapamilya stars in the two movies offered to her.

As for the real score between the two of them, Kim and Gerald could not escape from answering the question why they are still only friends. "Four years na kami magkasama (since Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition), pero hindi kami nagmamadali," said Gerald. "Tsaka pag may away (kagaya ng) ibang love teams, hindi masyado nakakapagtrabaho ng maayos so parang ayaw namin (na mangyari yun) na maapektuhan yung personal life naminat work namin and mahal namin yung trabaho namin na mas importante sa amin kaysa love life."

ABS-CBN has another blockbuster movie in Paano Na Kaya which had its premiere showing last night at Megamall. Paano Na Kaya megged by Ruel Bayani is topbilled by Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson, showbiz’s No. 1 loveteam.

ABS-CBN talents arrived in full force to lend support to the Kimerald tandem including Jericho Rosales, Jake Cuenca, Karylle, Angelica Panganiban, Coco Martin, Maricar Reyes, Jason Abalos, Carmen Soo, as well as ABS-CBN executives Trina Dayrit, Cory Vidanes and Deo Endrinal. Gerald Anderson’s parents accompanied the young actor to the SM Cinema premiere while Kim’s sisters planed in from Cebu to be with the young star.

Kim and Gerald have that much talked-about kissing scene in the movie. And as to how passionate it is, you have to watch the film. Paano Na kaya also stars Melissa Ricks and Robi Domingo who is in his first movie outing. Direk Ruel is impressed with Robi: “He is a natural. I am sure people will expect more of him in the future.”

'Paano Na Kaya?' earns P10M on first day

MANILA – “Paano Na Kaya?," Star Cinema’s first offering this year, earned P10 million in ticket sales on its first day of screening on Wednesday.

This was according to the data released by Star Cinema's Booking and Distribution Department, “SNN: Showbiz News Ngayon” reported.

Under the direction of Ruel S. Bayani, “Paano Na Kaya?" features the hottest love team in show business today - Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson.

"Sobrang overwhelmed kami siyempre na napanood na ng lahat ng tao ang pinaghirapan namin," Bayani said.

Chiu and Anderson, or “Kimerald,” were also ecstatic with the success of their 4th film together.

"Very overwhelming, masaya," Anderson said when told of the film's success.

"Nakakagaan ng loob na nagustuhan nila ang pelikula," Chiu added.

"Paano Na Kaya?" tells the story of Mae (Chiu), who is secretly in love with her best friend, Bogs (Anderson).

But their relationship turns complicated when Anderson's girlfriend, Anna (Melissa Ricks), breaks up with him. The separation sends Bogs into depression, and Mae comes to the rescue.

Mae thinks that the best way to save Bogs from self-destruction is by having a pseudo-relationship or "rebound relationship" with him.

Eventually the 2 fall in love, and from then on, they encounter the complexities or the intricacies of a "rebound relationship."

The cast members also include Cai Cortez, Janus del Prado, Empoy Marquez, IC Mendoza, Kian Kazemi, Bernard Palanca, Robi Domingo and Zsa Zsa Padilla.

After directing them in the ABS-CBN top-rated series, "Tayong Dalawa," Ruel Bayani dreamt of making a movie with Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson.

Well, Direk Ruel’s dream has become a reality when Star Cinema tapped him to direct the Kim-Gerald movie, "Paano Na Kaya?"

"First shooting pa lamang naming tatlo together, I knew things will go smoothly. Lalo on my part. I know both of them too well. Bukod sa mabait at hardworking ang dalawa.

"While directing them in ‘Tayong Dalawa,’ hindi nila ako binigyan ng dahilan para magkaproblema.

"Lahat ng hiniling ko, kahit ‘yung maseselan na eksena in their honeymoon scene ay ginawa nila without complaint."

In "Paano Na Kaya?" the two are also playing mature roles. Naturally, there are scenes which require the two to do things which, perhaps, they have not yet both experienced in real life.

Especially Kim, who confessed that if ever she accepts Gerald’s suit, he will be her first.

We asked Direk Ruel what the real score between Kim and Gerald is.

He answered: "I asked them the same question over and over. At consistent sila sa pagsasagot na ‘MU’ (mutual understanding) lang ang nararamdaman nila sa isa’t isa.

According to Star Cinema, ang first day grosses of their latest offering — the Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson starrer titled “Paano Na Kaya” grossed P10 million on its first day of showing in theaters nationwide. Tuwang-tuwa raw ang mga tagapamahala at taong bumubuo sa Star Cinema dahil sa tagumpay ng first movie ng film outfit of ABS-CBN. Di pa namin ma-confirm independently kung totoo ang figure na bigay ng Star Cinema, so pu-pwedeng bumaba or tumaas ang figure when everything said and done.

UPDATE: Yung P10 million na grosses ay up to 9:00 pm lang of the first day of showing ng “Paano Na Kaya.” When the day ended and by midnight, naka-P12 million na ang movie ng Kimerald. So congratulations!

Pero sa mga previous figures na released ng Star Cinema sa kanilang movies noon, kung may discrepency man, di ganun kalaki. So it’s safe to say na totoo ang grosses na ‘yan!

Anyway, naglibot kahapon sa mga sinehan ang direktor ng movie na si Ruel Bayani para makita ang dagsa ng mga tao sa pelikula nito. Ubod ng tuwa at galak ang kanyang naramdaman dahil talagang pinanood ng mga tao ang “Paano Na Kaya?” Maganda rin daw ang reaksyon ng mga tao sa loob ng sinehan, an indication that word of mouth for the movie would be positive — translating to more people coming to watch the movie.

Base sa first day grosses ng “Paano Na Kaya?” the movie can already be considered a hit. Winner talaga ang Kimerald! Congratulations to Star Cinema for another job well done. At kung first day grosses ang pag-basehan, malayo ang mararating ng pelikulang ito sa Pinoy Box Office.

Gerald Anderson and Kim Chiu offer a feel-good romance in ‘Paano Na Kaya’

The premiere night of Gerald Anderson and Kim Chiu’s movie Paano Na Kaya was attended by fans and celebrities who came to show their support for one of the country’s hottest love teams. Kris Aquino, who’s a self-confessed fan of the two, was there with husband James Yap and sons Joshua and baby James. Aside from other cast members like Melissa Ricks and Robi Domingo, other celebrities spotted at the event included Gabby Concepcion, Angelica Panganiban, Coco Martin, Carmen Soo, Maricar Reyes, Jake Cuenca, Jericho Rosales, Karylle, and Jason Abalos to name a few.

Paano Na Kaya is the of story of a girl (Kim) who falls in love with her best friend (Gerald) who’s already committed to someone else (Melissa). Kim’s character becomes her best friend’s taga-ligaw, shock absorber, and even a rebound girlfriend at some point.

The kilig moments between Kim and Gerald who didn’t hold back when it comes to their kissing scenes should be more than enough to keep Kimerald fans happy. Their unexpected hilarious antics also add to the feel-good romance that Paano Na Kaya offers moviegoers.

When it comes to their dramatic scenes, Kim definitely lives up to her title as one of the country’s favorite drama princesses. She delivers some of the movie’s most quotable lines like, “Bogs, tayo na lang. Sana akin ka na lang.” and “Syinota mo ako. Syinota mo ang best friend mo.” Gerald is also a revelation in the film because of his performance in the confrontation scenes and his sexier physique.

When Paano Na Kaya? had its premiere at SM Megamall last Tuesday, just about all the co-stars nina Kim at Gerald sa ongoing series nilang Kung Tayo’y Magkakalayo sa ABS-CBN were present.

Si Kris Aquino, gumaganap na mother niya sa serye, came with husband James Yap and son Baby James, who reportedly will also have a part in the TV series.

Kris interviewed Kim and Gerald live on SNN (Showbiz News Ngayon).

Gabby Concepcion, Kris’ lover and Kim’s father in Kung Tayo’y..., arrived late.

Naroroon din si Coco Martin, na popular na ngang talaga dahil the fans really chanted his name habang papasok siya sa sinehan.

Coco plays Kim’s brother naman in Kung Tayo’y...

Also present were Kim and Gerald’s fellow Star Magic talents Jake Cuenca and Aaron Villaflor.

Obvious na kaya nandu’n si Jake ay dahil kay Melissa Ricks, who plays a kontrabida in the movie.

Wala namang kasama si Robbie Domingo nang dumating. Ditto with Ricky Davao.

Manliligaw ni Kim si Robbie sa pelikula. Si Ricky naman ang lumalabas na ama nina Rica at Kim. Singer Karylle was also there, siguro to lend mom Zsa Zsa Padilla moral support.

Zsa Zsa plays Gerald’s pabayang mom in the movie. Later, however, naging mabait at ideal nanay na siya sa anak.

She even left her sweetheart (played by Guji Lorenzana), to prove to her son that she is serious na maging ideal mom.

Others in the cast of Paano Na Kaya? are Rio Locsin, Bernard Palanca, IC Mendoza, Cai Cortez and Empoy Marquez.

Well, congratulations are in order not just for Bugoy but for the cast and crew ng movie, most especially to Ruel Bayani, who directed Paano na Kaya?
